Creating Space for Innovation: Monthly Design Thinking Sessions

Challenge

In a fast-paced legal environment, finding time to innovate, play, and experiment is tough, even though feedback shows employees crave it. Busy professionals are often too focused on their to-do lists to develop future-oriented skills. The challenge? Infusing fresh, human-centered thinking into their work without adding extra load to their schedules.

Solution

In collaboration with the firm’s Head of Innovation, Mollie designed and facilitated a series of one-hour, drop-in Design Thinking Workshops—fun, vibrant sessions held monthly that offer a refreshing break from routine. Using online whiteboards and a simple “come as you are” approach, these workshops make it easy for anyone to join, collaborate, and engage. They became a regular burst of creativity and connection, recharging attendees and building skills like empathy and collaboration in a low-pressure environment.

Mollie is the perfect fit for us in bringing the balance of fun and creativity, while also challenging and stretching our ways of ideating. People look forward to these
sessions each month as a chance to work through a challenge they are excited to crack, or simply to have a moment in their day to recharge and do things differently.

Impact

Over time, participants begin flexing their “empathy muscles” and approaching challenges with more openness. Regular attendees brought a renewed sense of creativity and teamwork back to their roles and have become champions of design-thinking principles. What started as one hour of creative play each month evolved into a meaningful culture shift, proving that big changes can start with just a small, consistent commitment to growth.

Mollie’s deeply curious mindset and ability to bring an empathetic lens to her facilitation work makes her one of the best in the business. Mollie’s workshops provide her clients with the structure and frameworks they require to navigate disruption, while making workshops as fun and enriching as possible for the participants. She works really hard to set up sessions that feel safe and respectful and really bring out the best in people for the time they are with her. Facilitation is Mollie’s super power and I would recommend her to anyone.
